Kipling

I just finished reading 3 Kipling stories and I loved them!!

The Elephant's Child is a lovely story about a curious child who learns the hard way that curiosity, while i can have good rewards, can be hazardous.

How The Leopard Got His Spots made me smile. The cunning of the giraffe and the zebra was great.

My favorite though was Rikki Tikki Tavi. I loved Rikki's courage and tenacity and his absolute faith in himself.

There is an old joke that goes "Do you like Kipling? I don't know I've never Kippled." well I've now "kippled' and I can say without a doubt. I like Kipling!

Rikki Tikki Tavi is a story that I had read yonder when I was in third grade. I loved that story. Just to say it gave me thrills. I took the story to school and everyone practiced it. I was lucky enough for my parents to have purchased encyclopedia sets with a children's story collection that went along with it. I loved that story. That and there was one based out of Denmark I believe. The pancake that rolled down the hill (or mountain). Rumplestiltskin came alive. I think that was one of my favorites as a child. The Chines Cricket was of interest too. You brought back memories of all the childrens stories that I had read and forgotten. I am taking Children's Literature this Summer. I will be getting a chance to look again at all of these. It will be good to see them in a fresh new look and remember how young I was when reading through them. I poured over those books. They used to be my "Show and Tell".
